"Mad World" is among all songs about suicide, a very similar song to, "Suicide is Painless" because of their similar idea of suicide being the best form of escape. Suicide is Painless actually says it in its lyrics, which makes it is easy to infer what the song’s content will be. In the other hand, "Mad World" focuses on the reasons why people dig themselves into depression due to the hopeless feeling of never being able to be noticeable. As a society, these songs are very influential because they let us know, the listeners, how some people feel so empty in their souls. Personally, it inspires me to try and help these people suffering from abandonment somehow. No one should feel like suicide is the only escape or way out of any problem, as large or small. Depression can be treated and controlled with prescriptions, therapy and other resources. There is absolutely no excuse to let these people kill themselves. As, "Mad World" describes how messed up the world is and how negatively a person can see life when depressed, people should do something about it and let them know they are not alone. There is so much help for these people, which consists in therapies of all kinds to keep them going, so there is no excuse for death. Suicide is not a joke. These songs, aside from being so powerful and eye opening they can be utilized as a form of awareness to reduce suicidal rates. Let's treat each other humanly equally so no one feels left behind. We never know what people are going through and we ignore those who seem to "not fit in," but let’s not discriminate. A simple, “Hey, how are you?” can go far a long way. A small sympathetic phrase could mean so much more to someone who is depressed or considering suicide, than to a person who is not experiencing such ideology.
